Our Wild, Golden Chicken Clucking in the Woods

SPEAKER: Fred Jeremy Seligson J.D.

SUMMARY:

During 13 years of residence at the foot of An San, Saddle Mountain, the author made daily forays into the woods,  more frequently at night during these COVID years. In the past three years, he compiled a prose poem journal of unusual happenings which join together into a memoir about his colorful neighbors, and the striking flora and fauna and curious people encountered in the woods. Also included are stories of visits to neighboring Bong-won Temple, its cats and candle lights for dead. Furthermore, stories of ghosts, clanging, midnight fish chimes and dead guitars entertain. Altogether it is an imaginative story which captures the soul of a wondrous “traditional Korean forest,” an island of green in the midst of an enormous city. Excerpts are brief and the language conveys a sense of the beauty of the place.
