The town of Icheon has more than a thousand-year history as a major center of ceramic arts and pottery manufacturing on the peninsula. From ancient times, the abundance of unique clay and minerals, coupled with lush pine forests, made this small country village a most special place. Icheon is also famous for its rice. During the Joseon Kingdom, the king ate only Icheon rice. Icheon rice is said to be some of Korea’s finest rice today. The potters in the village produced their wares as the official suppliers to the royal house.
