Finding common ground: Reconstructing contemporary Korean history with archival footage

Just like everywhere else in the world, the South Korean political climate is becoming more and more polarized. When one tries to close that gap, the largest obstacle lies in the differences in interpreting contemporary political history. By establishing a ‘least common denominator’ the speaker’s documentaries hope to find a starting point for a modest agreement.

Taewoong Lee has been working for KBS since 2003. Originally trained as a sports broadcasting director. his career started with sports documentaries. His work currently focuses on contemporary history, relying heavily on the rich archival footage lying in the vaults of KBS. Major works include <천하장사 만만세> (2011), <공간과 압박> (2012), <숫자의 게임> (2014), <88/18> (2018), <모던 코리아>(2019).
