Description:
This walking tour is designed to visit historical places including Jangchungdan Park(장충단공원) and Hanyangdoseong(한양도성), the Seoul City Walls near Hotel Shilla.

First, we will visit some relocated historical relics at Dongguk University and Janchungdan Park(장충단 공원). These relics include interesting historical remains such as the Jangchungdan Epitaph(장충단비, Seoul Tangible Cultural Property No. 1), the Supyogyo Stone Bridge(수표교, Seoul Tangible Cultural Property No. 18), the Statue of the reverend Samyeong(사명대사), and Jeong-gag-won temple(정각원), which was the former Sungjeongjeon Hall of Gyeonghuigung Palace (경희궁 숭정전). At there, we will learn about the various tragic events associated with them and the reasons why they have been relocated to their current sites.

After taking a tour around the historical sites at Janchungdan Park, we will move to the Seoul City Walls located next to Hotel Shilla.

Then, while walking to the pavilion at the summit along the Seoul City Walls of the mountain, we will take a look at the history of the city walls, construction types of the city walls throughout the period, the real-name construction system, a hidden gate and so on.

Lastly, after finishing the walking tour along the city walls, for those who want to join will go down to a rooftop café near Seoul City Walls enjoy the view of the city walls from there, and drink a cup of coffee or different types of Korean craft beers.

There will be a considerable amount of walking, so please wear appropriate footwear. The tour will proceed as scheduled even if it rains – just put on your rain gear and bring your umbrella!
